Prevention and treatment of vitamin D deficiency
This medication is used to prevent and treat vitamin D deficiency in elderly individuals, adolescents, and adults who lack vitamin D. Insufficient vitamin D can weaken bone health, so supplementation helps maintain healthy bones. It is particularly effective in improving vitamin D deficiency in older adults and growing adolescents. Regular use of this medication alleviates symptoms of vitamin D deficiency and enhances overall skeletal health.
Administer 200,000 IU of cholecalciferol via intramuscular injection. Ensure the annual dose does not exceed 600,000 IU of cholecalciferol.

This medication contains vitamin D, so care must be taken to avoid excessive dosing. When taking vitamin D fortified foods or other vitamin D medications, it is crucial to check the total vitamin D content. If the calcium level in the blood becomes too high or the amount of calcium excreted in the urine increases, the use of this medication should be discontinued. For those with high calcium intake, it is important to regularly check calcium levels in blood and urine. Those with allergies to this medication or conditions such as hypercalcemia, kidney stones, or renal impairment should not take it. It is also safer for pregnant or breastfeeding women to avoid this medication. Various side effects, such as headaches, fatigue, muscle pain, digestive issues, dehydration, or increased blood pressure may occur during treatment; if any abnormal symptoms arise, seek medical advice. Regular blood tests to monitor vitamin D levels and kidney function are necessary. Drug interactions may occur when taken with other medications, so inform your doctor of all medications being taken. In case of an overdose, immediately stop administration, increase fluid intake, and seek necessary treatment. This medication should be used quickly after opening, and any remaining medication should be discarded. Store in a cool place away from direct sunlight.
Headache, weakness, fatigue, muscle pain, loss of appetite, weight loss, growth failure, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, polyuria, dehydration, hypertension, calcium stones, tissue calcifications in kidneys and blood vessels, excessive bone calcification, arrhythmia, psychiatric symptoms, awareness disorders, joint pain, myasthenia, drowsiness, azotemia, hypersensitivity reactions, thirst, confusion, bloating, abdominal pain, metallic taste, dry mouth, rash, itching, injection site granuloma, injection site pain.

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container that blocks light, at room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius. Proper storage helps maintain the medication's effectiveness for a longer period.
