If tolerated and additional blood sugar control is needed, the dose may be increased to 25/5 mg once daily. For patients on existing combination therapy, administer at the previously prescribed dose. Precautions

This medication contains two active ingredients, empagliflozin and linagliptin, which are diabetes treatments that help control blood sugar levels. This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, those allergic to its components, those with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, and patients on dialysis should not take this medication. Patients with impaired kidney function should have their kidney function regularly checked before taking this medication, and caution is also warranted if taking other medications that may affect kidney function. Patients with heart failure or a history of pancreatitis should use this medication cautiously, and if acute pancreatitis symptoms, such as severe abdominal pain, occur, they should stop taking it immediately. Additionally, a condition called bullous pemphigoid may occur, presenting as blisters on the skin, so it is important to consult a physician if skin abnormalities develop. When taking this medication, side effects like urinary tract infections, genital infections, hypoglycemia, dehydration, and low blood pressure may occur, so it is crucial to inform healthcare professionals immediately if symptoms arise. Particularly, when taken with other diabetes medications such as insulin or sulfonylureas, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase, which may require dosage adjustments. This medication is not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women, and it is best not to use it in children under 18 years of age as safety and efficacy have not been established. In case of overdose, treatment such as gastrointestinal decontamination may be necessary, so it is essential to adhere to the prescribed dosage. Lastly, keep this medication out of reach of children and store it in its original packaging.
