If tolerated and additional blood sugar control is needed, the dose may be increased to 25/5 mg once daily. This medication can be taken regardless of meals, and tablets should be swallowed whole. Precautions

This medication consists of two active ingredients, empagliflozin and linagliptin, primarily used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. First, this medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, individuals with an allergy to any of its components or ingredients, type 1 diabetes patients, patients with diabetic ketoacidosis, and those undergoing dialysis should not take this medication. Patients with impaired renal function or heart failure should exercise greater caution when using this medication. Renal function can affect the efficacy of this drug, so regular kidney function tests are required before and after use. Acute pancreatitis may occur, so if severe abdominal pain persists while taking this medication, it is essential to consult a physician immediately, and if pancreatitis is suspected, discontinue the medication. Additionally, there may be a rare occurrence of a skin condition known as bullous pemphigoid, which causes blisters on the skin, indicating the need to inform medical personnel promptly if any skin abnormalities arise. Taking this medication may increase the risk of urinary and genital infections, and any symptoms of infection should be treated promptly. Symptoms of hypoglycemia may arise, especially when taken with blood glucose-lowering agents such as insulin or sulfonylureas; frequent blood sugar monitoring and caution are advised. This medication may lead to fluid volume depletion, so special attention should be paid to elderly patients or those with low blood pressure to prevent dehydration. In severe dehydration cases, it may be necessary to temporarily suspend the medication. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised to avoid taking this medication and should consult a physician if necessary. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children under 18 years of age have not been established, and its use is not recommended. In case of overdose, treatment may include the removal of any remaining medication from the gastrointestinal tract; therefore, adhering to the prescribed dosage is crucial. Finally, this medication should be stored out of the reach of children and kept in its original container; transferring it to another container should be avoided.
