Improvement of acute coronary syndrome (cardiovascular abnormalities) and reduction of the risk of atrial fibrillation (stroke, etc.)
The concurrent administration of clopidogrel and aspirin mainly applies to patients with acute coronary syndrome, specifically those with unstable angina or non-ST elevation myocardial infarction who have undergone medical treatment, coronary interventional procedures, or coronary artery bypass graft surgery. This drug combination helps improve mortality from cardiovascular abnormalities related to the heart and brain, such as myocardial infarction, stroke, or refractory ischemia. Additionally, in patients with atrial fibrillation who have one or more vascular risk factors and cannot use vitamin K antagonists with a low risk of bleeding, it is used to reduce the risk of stroke and thromboembolism. This medication is used for the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.
Administer 1 capsule once daily.
This medication can inhibit platelet function, prolonging the time it takes for blood to coagulate. As a result, prolonged bleeding may occur, so if bleeding is severe or does not stop, contact a doctor immediately. Before any surgery or when starting new medications, you must inform your healthcare provider that you are taking this medication. Individuals with genetically reduced function of a specific enzyme (CYP2C19) may experience reduced effectiveness of this medication; caution is advised. It is recommended not to take medication that activates the CYP2C19 enzyme in conjunction with this medication, as it may increase the risk of bleeding. Individuals who frequently consume alcohol may have an increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding when taking this medication, so consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is essential. This medication should not be given to patients with specific allergies or bleeding disorders, severe liver or kidney dysfunction, women in late pregnancy or breastfeeding, or patients with lactose intolerance. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or a tendency to bleed should use this medication with caution, and if bleeding symptoms appear, consult a healthcare provider immediately. Patients scheduled for surgery should stop this medication 5-7 days prior and resume only after hemostasis has been achieved. Rarely, adverse effects such as reduced levels of specific cells in the blood, severe skin reactions, allergic reactions, and abnormalities in kidney and liver functions may occur; if any abnormal symptoms arise, consult a doctor immediately. During early and mid-pregnancy, careful administration under a doctor's judgment is advised, and it is safer not to use this medication in late pregnancy. Safety and effectiveness in children and adolescents under 18 have not been established, so it is not recommended. This medication does not affect driving or operating machinery ability, but caution is necessary due to the risk of bleeding. In the case of overdose, the risk of bleeding may significantly increase, so it is essential to adhere to the prescribed dosage, and if an overdose is suspected, notify a healthcare provider immediately.
