Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with viral keratitis, fungal eye diseases, mycobacterial infections, or chronic blepharitis. In addition, patients who are hypersensitive to this medication should not be administered it. In cases of corneal epithelium loss or corneal ulcers, patients with tuberculous or purulent eye diseases, glaucoma patients, and children under 2 years of age should not use this medication in principle, but may be administered cautiously in unavoidable situations. Long-term use of this medication can cause an increase in intraocular pressure, which may lead to glaucoma or optic nerve damage, so regular intraocular pressure checks are needed. Infections such as herpetic keratitis or keratomycosis may worsen, so appropriate treatment should be sought immediately if such symptoms arise. Long-term use may cause cataracts and increase the risk of secondary infections due to immune suppression. When acute suppurative endophthalmitis is present, using this medication may hide or worsen symptoms, thus caution is advised. This medication contains phosphates, so in rare cases, corneal calcification may occur in patients with severe corneal damage. Wound healing may be delayed after cataract surgery, and long-term use may suppress pituitary and adrenal cortex function. If hypersensitivity symptoms arise, use should be discontinued immediately. Using this medication for red eyes without a physician’s diagnosis may lead to blindness, so it is essential to consult a specialist. Patients with a history of herpes simplex should be monitored frequently and use cautiously. For pediatric patients or those unable to cooperate, regular intraocular pressure checks are also required with long-term use beyond 10 days. This medication is not effective for mustard gas keratitis or Sjögren's keratoconjunctivitis. If inflammation or pain persists or worsens for more than 48 hours, use should be stopped immediately and a physician consulted. Contact lens wearers should remove their lenses before administration and can only reinsert them at least 30 minutes after administration. Blurred vision may temporarily occur after instillation, so driving or operating dangerous machinery should be avoided. Infections from chickenpox or measles while using this medication can be fatal, so medical history and vaccination status should be checked, and treatment should be sought immediately if infection is suspected. Particularly, children and patients taking CYP3A4 inhibitors are at higher risk for systemic side effects from this medication and should be cautious. Using this medication together with CYP3A4 inhibitors may increase systemic exposure and the risk of side effects, so it should be used under a physician's judgment only when absolutely necessary. Safety during pregnancy has not been established, so pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should avoid long-term use, and breastfeeding women are advised not to use this medication and to discontinue breastfeeding if necessary. Safety has not been established for infants and children, so caution is needed. Elderly patients should also use this medication with additional caution due to decreased physiological function. This medication is for ophthalmic use only, and care should be taken not to let the container tip touch the eye directly. Before use, shake well, and avoid sharing for contamination prevention. Store this medication tightly sealed to prevent air or moisture from entering. It is important to maintain storage temperatures between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature.
