This medication is used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. It reduces the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke in adults with multiple risk factors for coronary heart disease or in patients with type 2 diabetes, and lowers the risk of complications and hospitalization due to angina and congestive heart failure after vascular surgery. Additionally, it helps in the treatment of hyperlipidemia by decreasing total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, Apo-B protein, triglyceride levels, and increasing HDL-cholesterol levels. It is particularly effective for patients with dyslipidemia that does not respond to diet therapy and familial hypercholesterolemia patients. It is also used in the treatment of familial hypercholesterolemia in children aged 10 to 17 years, helping to reduce the risk of early cardiovascular diseases. This medication is used to prevent and improve heart diseases and hyperlipidemia.
