This medication must be swallowed with liquid such as water and should not be chewed or crushed. 1) Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks - If symptoms persist or are not resolved, continue for an additional 4 weeks - Maintenance therapy for prevention of recurrence in patients with esophagitis: 20 mg once daily - Symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: 20 mg once daily
Children's dosage
Adolescents aged 12 years and older - Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) Treatment of erosive esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks If symptoms persist or are not resolved, an additional 4 weeks of treatment is required.

This medication is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease and erosive esophagitis and for long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in esophagitis patients. It is also effective for treating and preventing recurrence of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. It treats upper gastrointestinal symptoms and gastric ulcers that may arise in patients taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and helps prevent ulcers. It is also used for treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and for prevention and maintenance therapy of rebleeding from gastric or duodenal ulcers. This medication is an effective treatment for improving various diseases of the stomach and esophagus.

Dosage and Administration

Precautions

This medication should not be administered to patients with certain allergies or hypersensitivity. For example, it should not be used in patients who are hypersensitive to this medication, its ingredients, or benzimidazole derivatives, or in those who have previously experienced such reactions, as well as patients taking certain antibiotics or medications. It is also advisable not to use this medication in breastfeeding women or in patients with a history of myocardial infarction. Furthermore, patients allergic to any colorants included in this medication should use it cautiously. Care must be taken when administering this medication as various side effects may arise. Side effects such as blood-related abnormalities, allergic reactions, electrolyte imbalance, neurological symptoms, gastrointestinal issues, liver function abnormalities, skin reactions, muscle pain, etc., have been reported. In particular, regular examinations should be conducted during long-term use, and if any symptoms change, the doctor must be consulted immediately. Long-term use of this medication may increase the risk of certain infections due to bacterial overgrowth in the stomach. Additionally, this medication can interact with other drugs, so patients must inform their doctor or pharmacist of any medications they are taking. Some drugs may be contraindicated or require caution when used together. During pregnancy, no significant abnormalities have been found in animal studies, but it should be administered cautiously in pregnant women, and it is safe not to use it while breastfeeding.
