This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled with either telmisartan or amlodipine monotherapy. It helps to lower blood pressure more effectively for better management of hypertension.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose of this medication is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water without regard to meals. It is advisable to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). Patients with renal impairment do not require dosage adjustment for mild to moderate renal impairment; however, patients with severe renal impairment should start with a lower dose and gradually titrate up. Patients with liver impairment should not exceed a daily dose of 40 mg of telmisartan.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this medication in pediatric patients under 18 years old have not been established, and its use is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause severe problems for the fetus or newborn if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, and should not be used by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. This medication is contraindicated for patients with certain conditions, such as those with hypersensitivity to this medication, severe liver impairment, cardiac issues, low blood pressure, shock, and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Patients with primary aldosteronism, aortic stenosis, liver diseases, gastrointestinal disorders, renal artery hypertension, renal insufficiency, elderly patients, etc., should use this medication with caution and have their blood pressure and kidney function monitored regularly. Common side effects such as dizziness and peripheral edema may occur while taking this medication, and serious side effects may occur rarely, so immediate consultation with a healthcare provider is needed if abnormal symptoms arise. If pregnancy is confirmed, this medication should be discontinued as soon as possible and replaced with a safer treatment option, and it is also advisable not to take this medication while breastfeeding. Since there is a risk of significantly dropping blood pressure or causing kidney function issues, caution is required, especially for patients taking diuretics or those with weak renal function. This medication may interact with other drugs, so inform your healthcare provider of any other medications you are taking, and avoid taking it with grapefruit juice. Drowsiness or dizziness may occur when driving or operating machinery, so caution is necessary. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, dizziness, cardiac issues may occur, and immediate emergency treatment is necessary. Store this medication out of reach of children, and it is recommended to open the packaging just before taking the medication.
