Adult dose

The recommended dose of this medication is one tablet once daily, to be taken with water regardless of meals. It is advisable to take it at the same time every day (e.g. in the morning). In patients with renal impairment, treatment should start at a lower dose in severe cases and gradually increase. In patients with liver impairment, the total daily dose of telmisartan should not exceed 40 milligrams. For elderly patients (75 years and older), treatment should begin with a lower dose and be gradually increased.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this medication in pediatric patients under the age of 18 have not been established, therefore its administration is not recommended.

This medication can pose a serious risk to the fetus, especially during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it should not be taken by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. If a pregnant woman takes this medication, serious side effects such as decreased kidney function in the fetus, skull formation disorders, and hypotension may occur, so it should be stopped immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. This medication should not be used in patients with allergies to the active ingredients or similar compounds, patients with severe liver or heart dysfunction, hypotensive patients, or patients with unstable heart failure after acute myocardial infarction. Women who are breastfeeding are also advised not to take this medication. Patients with primary aldosteronism, certain heart valve diseases, liver dysfunction, gastrointestinal disorders, or renal artery stenosis require special caution when using this medication. Elderly patients or those with renal impairment should also be observed carefully when taking it. The most common side effects when taking this medication are dizziness and edema, while serious side effects such as syncope or cardiac problems can occur rarely. If side effects occur, medical consultation should be sought immediately. Hypotension may occur; therefore, patients who are deficient in fluids or salt should replenish them before taking this medication, and if hypotensive symptoms appear during treatment, appropriate care is required. There is a risk of elevated potassium levels in the blood, so when used with potassium supplements or potassium-containing medications, periodic blood tests to check potassium levels should be conducted. Patients with heart disease or kidney disease should regularly monitor their blood pressure and kidney function while taking this medication. This medication can interact with other drugs, so if you are currently taking any medication, it is essential to inform your healthcare provider, especially with caution against combining certain heart medications, diuretics, lithium, warfarin, and grapefruit juice. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur while driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised. In case of overdose, severe hypotension, tachycardia, dizziness, and other symptoms may occur, requiring immediate appropriate emergency treatment at a medical facility. Store this medication out of reach of children, keep it dry, and open the packaging just before usage.

This medication is sensitive to light and should be stored in a container that blocks light. It is recommended to keep it at room temperature between 1 to 30 degrees. Proper storage helps maintain the effectiveness of the medication.
