In patients with essential hypertension where blood pressure cannot be adequately controlled with telmisartan alone, this medication can be added to effectively manage blood pressure. This helps maintain stable control of hypertension and aids in the prevention of cardiovascular complications.

How to take

Adult dose

For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by telmisartan alone, this medication should be taken once daily with water, regardless of meals. Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide combination 40/12.5 mg may be administered to patients whose blood pressure cannot be adequately controlled with 40 mg of telmisartan. Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide combination 80/12.5 mg may be administered to patients whose blood pressure cannot be adequately controlled with 80 mg of telmisartan.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in children under 18 years.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus, especially during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. This medication should not be used by individuals with allergies to the active ingredients or excipients, those with certain liver or kidney diseases, pregnant or nursing women. Elderly patients or those with high potassium levels, liver impairment, or heart or blood vessel diseases should use this medication cautiously. The hydrochlorothiazide component can increase skin sensitivity to sunlight and raise the risk of skin cancer, so sun protection should be observed during use. While this medication lowers blood pressure, various side effects such as dizziness, hypotension, dyspepsia, and skin rashes may occur, so consult a doctor immediately if any abnormal symptoms arise. It is particularly important to regularly monitor potassium, sodium, and other electrolyte levels through blood tests, as imbalances may occur. This medication may interact with other antihypertensives, diuretics, lithium, certain antibiotics, and antidepressants, so all other medications being taken must be reported. Bronchitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis, hypokalemia, hyperuricemia, hyponatremia, anxiety, depression, insomnia, sleep disturbances, dizziness, visual disturbances, blurred vision, vertigo, tachycardia, arrhythmia, hypotension, orthostatic hypotension, respiratory discomfort, pneumonia, diarrhea, dry mouth, bloating, abdominal pain, constipation, dyspepsia, vomiting, liver function abnormalities/liver impairment, erythema, pruritus, rash, sweating, urticaria, lower back pain, muscle cramps
