This medication is used in patients with acute coronary syndrome, particularly those with unstable angina or non-Q wave myocardial infarction. Furthermore, it is administered to patients who have undergone percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery to help improve atherosclerotic symptoms related to cardiovascular disorders, including death, myocardial infarction, stroke, or refractory ischemia. Additionally, in patients with atrial fibrillation who have one or more vascular risk factors where vitamin K antagonists are not appropriate and bleeding risk is low, it is used to reduce the risk of stroke and thromboembolism. In summary, this medication reduces thrombotic-related risks in patients with acute coronary syndrome and those with low bleeding risk in atrial fibrillation, preventing and improving cardiovascular complications.

Dosage and Administration

Administer one capsule once daily.

Precautions

This medication prevents blood from clotting, thereby preventing the formation of thrombi. However, taking this medication may prolong the time for bleeding to stop. Therefore, if bleeding does not stop or unusual bleeding occurs, it is essential to inform a doctor immediately. Before getting surgery or starting a new medication, you must inform your healthcare provider that you are taking this drug. If you have genetically decreased enzyme function that activates the drug, the drug's effectiveness may be reduced, and the risk of recurrence of cardiovascular disease may increase. Additionally, taking this medication with certain drugs may increase the risk of bleeding, so it is crucial to consult your doctor. Those who consume large amounts of alcohol daily may have an increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding while taking this drug, so consultation with a specialist is necessary. This medication should not be used in patients with certain diseases or conditions, such as bleeding disorders, severe liver or kidney dysfunction, pregnant women in the late stages of pregnancy, breastfeeding women, or patients with certain genetic diseases. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or bleeding tendencies should take this medication with additional caution, and if surgery is planned, it may be necessary to stop taking it 5-7 days prior. This medication can increase the risk of bleeding when used in conjunction with other antiplatelet or anticoagulant therapies since it inhibits blood clotting. During treatment, patients need careful monitoring for bleeding symptoms or gastrointestinal distress. This medication can occasionally cause serious blood abnormalities or allergic reactions, skin rashes, liver dysfunction, etc., so immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is necessary if any unusual symptoms occur. It should be used with caution during early or mid-pregnancy based on a doctor's judgment, and should not be used in late pregnancy. It is recommended not to take this medication while breastfeeding. Safety and efficacy in children and adolescents under 18 years have not been established, hence it is not recommended. In the case of overdose, the risk of bleeding may increase, and treatment may include platelet transfusions if necessary. This medication should be stored at room temperature and kept out of the reach of children. While it does not significantly affect driving or machinery operation, caution is advisable due to bleeding risks.
