Thioctic acid supplementation, treatment of Leigh syndrome, and improvement of inner ear hearing loss
Thioctic acid is used to aid the body's energy metabolism during intense physical labor and for neurodegenerative diseases such as Leigh syndrome, which is a rare neurological disorder. It can also help treat toxic cochlear hearing loss caused by drugs such as streptomycin or kanamycin, as well as noise-induced cochlear hearing loss. Generally, if no effect is observed after approximately one month of administration, discontinuation is recommended. This drug is primarily used to improve nerve damage and hearing problems.
As thioctic acid, the usual adult dose is 10~25mg once daily by intravenous injection. However, adjust the dose as appropriate according to age and symptoms.
