Effective for localized treatment of plaque psoriasis
This medication is primarily used for the local treatment of plaque psoriasis in adolescents and adults aged 12 years and older. Plaque psoriasis is characterized by red and scaly patches on the skin, causing significant discomfort. This medication helps improve the skin condition and relieve symptoms. With consistent use, it reduces itching and inflammation and promotes the recovery of healthy skin.
This medication should be used once daily on the affected area. The recommended treatment duration is 4 weeks. For those patients where efficacy has been confirmed with 4 weeks of once-daily use, maintenance therapy can be administered twice a week on non-consecutive days, with treatment intervals of every 3 or 4 days. The maximum dosing amount should not exceed 15g per day. The method of application is to shake the can for a few seconds before use, spray it with a minimum distance of 3cm from the skin.
This medication is flammable; therefore, it is essential to avoid fire hazards such as flames, cigarettes, and fire sources while using it. This medication contains corticosteroid components, which may cause side effects such as adrenal suppression, worsening diabetes, and osteoporosis if absorbed systemically. Particularly, when using occlusive dressings or applying to large skin areas, damaged skin, or areas where the skin folds, there is a higher risk of systemic absorption, and caution should be exercised. If this medication is used for an extended period or over large areas, it is necessary to regularly check hormone levels such as blood cortisol concentration. Due to the calcipotriene component, hypercalcemia may occur, so use should be discontinued immediately if this symptom appears. This medication should not be used in individuals who are hypersensitive to it, have calcium metabolism disorders, certain types of psoriasis, infected skin, children under 12 years of age, or on facial or mucosal areas. Elderly individuals, patients with liver disease, and diabetics must exercise additional caution when using this medication, as it may impact blood sugar control. If localized side effects such as skin redness, itching, or irritation occur during use, discontinue immediately and consult a doctor. If it gets into the eyes, rinse immediately with clean water, and if symptoms are severe, seek ophthalmic care. It is preferable not to use this medication concurrently with other topical corticosteroids, and efficacy may be diminished when combined with salicylic acid. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before using this medication, especially during the early stages of pregnancy, where caution is advised. Children under 12 years are not recommended for use, as safety and efficacy have not been established. Excessive use may lead to elevated blood calcium levels or adrenal function suppression, so it is crucial to strictly adhere to the prescribed dosage and regimen. After use, store in a place out of reach of children, and it is safer to use within six months after opening. It is recommended to avoid or limit sun exposure after using this medication, and if skin irritation or abnormal reactions occur, discontinue use and consult a professional.
Severe systemic edema associated with increased blood pressure, hypercalcemia (if accompanied by fever), severe allergic reactions (including hypersensitivity), severe cutaneous adverse reactions (such as rash, angioedema, facial swelling), visual disturbances (such as blurred vision), local adrenal cortical suppression, cataracts, worsening infections, impaired blood sugar control in diabetes
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
