Improvement of blood pressure control in essential hypertension

  • Essential hypertension
View approved original text

This medication can effectively lower blood pressure and manage hypertension in patients with essential hypertension who do not have adequate blood pressure control with telmisartan or amlodipine monotherapy. This helps reduce the risk of complications such as cardiovascular diseases and strokes. This medication stabilizes blood pressure and improves the overall health status of patients.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it must not be taken during pregnancy. This medication should not be administered to individuals who are allergic to the active ingredients or similar substances, pregnant women, nursing mothers, or patients with severe liver or heart problems. Particular caution is required when administering this medication to patients with liver disease, certain heart valve diseases, severely reduced kidney function, and those with hypotension. As this medication lowers blood pressure, there may be a risk of hypotension, dizziness, or drowsiness, and caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery. Due to the risk of increased potassium levels in the blood, patients with impaired kidney function or at risk of hyperkalemia should have regular blood tests. This medication can interact with other drugs, so especially in the case of patients taking certain heart medications, diuretics, lithium, warfarin, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is necessary. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, irregular heartbeat, dizziness, and acute renal failure may occur, and immediate medical attention should be sought. Safety and efficacy have not been sufficiently established for children and adolescents under 18 years old, so use is not recommended.
