This medication is effective for improving symptoms of gastrointestinal dysfunction caused by gastroesophageal reflux, hiatal hernia, gastric and duodenal inflammation and ulcers, including abdominal pain, dyspepsia, nausea, and vomiting. It also helps alleviate symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and intestinal spasms. It is used in children to treat habitual vomiting and non-infectious intestinal pain and disorders, as well as constipation and diarrhea symptoms. Therefore, this medication is used to improve and treat symptoms of various gastrointestinal-related diseases.

How to take

Adult dose

For trimebutine maleate, take 100-200 mg orally three times a day before meals. Adjust appropriately according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication contains lactose and should not be used by patients with genetically determined galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. While taking this medication, it is rare to experience symptoms such as constipation, diarrhea, bowel sounds (intestinal gas sounds), nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, thirst, and oral numbness. Also, symptoms of the central nervous system may occur, such as palpitations, fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, lethargy, and headache. It is also possible, though rarely, for liver function test results to increase, so caution is necessary. If any hypersensitivity reactions, such as skin rash, occur, the use of this medication should be suspended immediately. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should use this medication only if the benefits of treatment are deemed greater than the risks, as its safety has not been fully confirmed. Breastfeeding women should also avoid using this medication as its safety has not been established, and if it must be taken, it is advisable to discontinue breastfeeding. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children and stored in a tightly closed container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Additionally, to prevent misuse of the medication and maintain its quality, it is important not to transfer it to another container.
