Improvement in blood pressure control for essential hypertension
This medication is used to effectively control the blood pressure of patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled with monotherapy of Telmisartan or Amlodipine.
The recommended dose is one tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is advisable to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). For patients with severe renal impairment, treatment should be started at a lower dose, gradually increasing the dose. For patients with mild or moderate liver impairment, the daily dosage should not exceed 40 milligrams. Elderly patients (75 years and older) should start treatment at a lower dose.
Safety and efficacy for pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, and therefore the use of this medication is not recommended.
This medication should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, as it can cause serious harm to the fetus. If pregnancy is confirmed, this medication should be discontinued as soon as possible. Common side effects such as dizziness and peripheral edema may occur, and rare but serious adverse reactions such as syncope may happen. This medication should not be taken during pregnancy; those planning a pregnancy should switch to another safe antihypertensive. Due to the risk of hypotension, patients with low fluid or electrolyte levels should correct their conditions before administration, and should seek immediate treatment if hypotensive symptoms occur after taking the medication. Patients at risk for hyperkalemia should undergo regular blood tests, as blood potassium levels may rise, and should be careful when taking potassium supplements or potassium-rich medications. Patients with impaired kidney function should frequently check their status through blood tests, as the risk of worsening kidney function exists. While taking this medication, caution is advised when driving or operating dangerous machinery, as dizziness or drowsiness may occur. Interactions may occur with other medications; therefore, consult a healthcare provider if taking other medications. In case of overdose, severe hypotension, dizziness, arrhythmia, etc., may occur, and immediate medical attention should be sought.
