This medication is used to treat and prevent osteoporosis in both postmenopausal women and men.

How to take

Adult dose

Take 1 tablet of this medication orally once a week. Take at least 30 minutes before breakfast or at least 2 hours before or after any food or drink during the day. Take with an adequate amount of pure water (170~230ml) in an upright position. Do not chew or suck on the tablet, and do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy for children and adolescents in the growth stage have not been established.

Precautions

This medication can irritate the upper gastrointestinal mucosa and may cause issues such as esophagitis, esophageal ulcers, and esophageal erosions. Take with a sufficient amount of water, and do not lie down for a certain period after taking. If symptoms such as swallowing difficulty, pain behind the sternum, or heartburn occur, stop taking immediately and consult a doctor. This medication should not be administered to patients with esophageal strictures or achalasia that delay esophageal emptying, those with hypocalcemia, or patients with severe renal impairment. Also, it should not be used in individuals with a known allergy to this medication. During treatment, gastrointestinal-related symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain may occur, as well as adverse reactions such as musculoskeletal pain or skin rash. In case of severe symptoms, it is important to consult a doctor. Adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D is necessary, and if calcium supplements are required, they should be taken as directed by a physician.   • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attack, respiratory abnormalities with cough and fever, pneumonia
  • Skin or eyes turning yellow (jaundice), systemic

Mild side effects

Gastrointestinal adverse reactions (bleeding, esophagitis, esophageal ulcers, esophageal erosions, gastritis, duodenitis, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, gastrointestinal gas, abdominal bloating, gastroenteritis, colitis, rectal disorders), musculoskeletal adverse reactions (bone pain, joint pain, muscle pain, muscle stiffness, osteoarthritis, bursitis, tendon disorders), neurological adverse reactions (headache, dizziness, vertigo, insomnia, neuralgia, tension, sensory disturbance, anxiety)

Storage
