This medication is used to more effectively control blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension when blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled with monotherapy of amlodipine or telmisartan.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage of this medication is 1 tablet once a day, to be taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). In patients with renal impairment, start with a lower dose and gradually increase. For patients with liver impairment, the daily dose should not exceed 40 milligrams. Elderly patients (75 years or older) should also start with a lower dose and gradually increase.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this medication in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established; therefore, use in this population is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters; therefore, it should not be taken by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. If pregnancy is confirmed, discontinue use immediately and switch to another safe treatment method. This medication should also not be administered to patients with certain medical conditions, such as liver impairment, biliary obstruction, severe aortic stenosis, in shock status, or those with diabetes or moderate to severe renal impairment. Patients with primary aldosteronism, heart valve diseases, impaired liver function, gastrointestinal disorders, renovascular hypertension, hypotension, dialysis-requiring renal failure, and elderly patients should use this medication with caution. Common side effects while taking this medication include dizziness or peripheral edema, so caution is needed. Rarely, symptoms such as irregular heartbeat, liver dysfunction, skin rash, myalgia, and renal dysfunction may occur. This medication may interact with other drugs; therefore, especially when taken with digoxin, lithium, warfarin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, consultation with a healthcare professional is essential. Due to the risk of hyperkalemia, it is important to regularly check potassium levels in the blood. Women who are breastfeeding are advised not to take this medication, and safety data in pediatric patients is insufficient, so it is not recommended. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, dizziness, and acute renal failure may occur, and immediate medical assistance should be sought. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept in its original packaging.
