This medication is used for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women, and it is also effective in treating osteoporosis in men. It helps increase bone strength and reduce the risk of fractures.

How to take

Adult dose

Take 1 tablet of this medication orally once a week. Take it at least 30 minutes before breakfast or at least 2 hours before or after eating food or drinking. Swallow it upright with a sufficient amount of pure water (170-230 mL), and do not chew or suck it. Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking it.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy in children and adolescents have not been established.

Precautions

This medication may irritate the gastrointestinal mucosa, potentially leading to problems such as esophagitis or esophageal ulcers. Do not lie down after taking it, and take it with a sufficient amount of water. If you have difficulty swallowing, chest pain, heartburn, or any other symptoms, stop taking it immediately and consult a doctor. Special caution is needed for patients with esophageal abnormalities or conditions such as gastritis, duodenitis, or ulcers. This medication contains lactose, so it should not be taken by individuals with lactose intolerance. Additionally, patients with severely impaired kidney function or delayed esophageal emptying should not take this medication. When taking it, avoid taking it with drugs or foods containing calcium, magnesium, or iron, and refrain from eating for at least 30 minutes after taking it. Overdose may lead to low calcium levels in the blood, and should symptoms arise, notify a medical professional immediately. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and it is advisable not to transfer it to another container.
