View approved original text

This medicine is a dialysis solution used for peritoneal dialysis in patients with acute and chronic renal failure. It also helps detoxify patients suffering from drug overdose when other treatments are ineffective. Additionally, it alleviates discomfort that may arise from low pH when using a dialysis solution composed solely of lactic acid. Therefore, this drug is used to treat renal failure patients and improve discomfort during dialysis.

How it is given

Adult administration

Typically, for adults, 1.5 to 2.5L is injected into the abdominal cavity at a time. In the case of continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis, the drainage process is performed 3 to 5 times a day after retaining for 4-8 hours. For automated peritoneal dialysis, 4 to 5 cycles are completed using a machine at night, and during the day, up to 2 cycles may be performed.

Precautions

This drug is used for peritoneal dialysis, and abruptly stopping peritoneal dialysis can pose a life-threatening risk if no other renal replacement therapy is undertaken. It should not be used in patients with specific conditions such as diaphragmatic defects, severe abdominal burns or inflammation, and severe peritoneal adhesions. Additionally, it should not be administered to patients suspecting lactic acidosis, severe hypokalemia, recent abdominal surgery, inflammatory bowel disease, or those with abdominal fistulas. This drug must also not be used in patients with mental or physical conditions that prevent peritoneal dialysis. Patients taking digitalis preparations, those suspected of having carbohydrate metabolism disorders, lumbar spine disorders, or patients taking diuretics should have their blood electrolytes and glucose levels checked periodically when using this medication. Local pain or bleeding at the injection site, peritonitis, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, electrolyte imbalances, hypercholesterolemia, and dyspnea may occur as various adverse reactions. Fluid balance must be carefully managed during peritoneal dialysis, and the procedure must be conducted in a sterile environment to prevent infections. Prior to administration, the state of the dialysis solution should be thoroughly checked, and factors such as weight, nutritional status, and blood test results should be monitored regularly during use. Special precautions are necessary for pregnant or breastfeeding women, children, and the elderly, with dose adjustments for children. Overdosage may result in dehydration, electrolyte disturbances, and hyperglycemia, necessitating caution and immediate consultation with healthcare professionals if adverse symptoms appear. Peritoneal dialysis solutions should be used without opening the provided container, and should not be used if there are signs of defects in the container or liquid. Drugs should always be added in a sterile manner before use, and any remaining liquid should be discarded after use, while storage must avoid direct sunlight or freezing. This drug is known not to affect driving or machine operation abilities.
