This medication is used for the treatment of essential hypertension when blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy with amlodipine or telmisartan.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose of this medication is 1 tablet once daily, to be taken with water without regard to meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g. in the morning). For patients with renal impairment, those with severe impairment should start with a lower dose and gradually increase it. Patients with liver impairment should not exceed a daily dose of 40 mg of telmisartan. For the elderly (aged 75 and over), treatment should start with a lower dose and be gradually increased.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under the age of 18 have not been established, therefore administration of this medication is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, as it can pose serious risks to the fetus. Women who may become pregnant should also avoid taking this medication, and if pregnancy is confirmed, treatment should be discontinued immediately. Patients allergic to any ingredient in this medication or similar compounds should not take it. Patients with severe liver or biliary problems, excessively low blood pressure, or severely impaired heart function should not take this medication. Patients with severe diabetes or significantly decreased kidney function are prohibited from using this medication in combination with certain other drugs. Patients with primary aldosteronism or certain heart valve diseases should use this medication with caution. Patients with gastrointestinal disorders should be cautious, as issues like gastrointestinal bleeding may occur after taking this medication. Patients with renal vascular issues may experience worsened kidney function or increased risk of low blood pressure when taking this medication. Elderly patients or those with renal failure need special attention when using this medication. The most common side effects of this medication include dizziness and peripheral edema, while serious side effects such as syncope may occur rarely. Due to the sudden blood pressure-lowering effect, symptoms of low blood pressure may appear; in such cases, the patient should be laid down, and intravenous fluids may be required. There is a risk of elevated potassium levels, so caution is needed when taken together with potassium supplements or potassium-containing medications. This medication may affect kidney function, hence regular monitoring of kidney function and blood tests is necessary. In patients with heart disease, the risk of myocardial infarction or angina may increase when taking this medication, so caution is advised. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur while driving or operating machinery, so caution is necessary. This medication may interact with specific other medications, so if taking other drugs, a consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is essential. It is advisable not to take this medication during breastfeeding. Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have not been established, and therefore it is not recommended for use. In cases of overdose, severe hypotension and cardiac dysfunction may occur, and immediate medical attention is required. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children and stored away from moisture.
