This medication is used to remove intestinal foaming during gastroscopy and effectively remove intestinal gas during abdominal X-ray examinations. It also helps improve symptoms such as abdominal bloating or aerophagia caused by gas in the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, it is useful for reducing abdominal discomfort and clarifying test results. This medication improves gas-related issues in the gastrointestinal tract.

How to take

Adult dose

1. For gastroscopy, take simethicone, orally administer 40-80 mg with about 10 mL of water 15-40 minutes before the test. 2. For abdominal X-ray examination, start from 3-4 days before the test, take 40-80 mg once three times a day after meals or between meals. 3. For improvement of abdominal symptoms due to gas in the gastrointestinal tract, take 40-80 mg once three times a day after meals or before sleeping, adjusting according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame. Aspartame is broken down in the body into a substance called phenylalanine, so patients with the hereditary condition phenylketonuria should not take this medication. The daily allowable amount of aspartame is limited to less than 40mg per kg of body weight. For example, for a 60kg adult, care should be taken not to exceed a maximum daily dosage of 2.4g. Additionally, this medication contains sodium metabisulfite, which can cause allergic reactions. Particularly, patients with asthma or those sensitive to sulfites may experience severe asthma attacks or life-threatening allergic reactions, so caution is advised. When taking this medication, gastrointestinal symptoms such as occasional loose stools, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pressure, and loss of appetite may occur. Headaches may rarely occur. Shake the bottle well before use. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, stored in a cool place away from direct sunlight, closed tightly to avoid moisture.
