Keratitis caused by herpes simplex virus is a condition characterized by inflammation of the cornea of the eye. This medication is used to alleviate that inflammation and inhibit the replication of the virus to improve symptoms.

How to use

Adult use

5 times a day, applying approximately 1 cm of the ointment every 4 hours to the lower part of the eye (conjunctival sac). Continue applying for at least 3 days after complete recovery. Adjust dosage appropriately based on symptoms.

Precautions

This medication is an eye ointment containing acyclovir and is for use in the eyes. First, do not use if you are allergic to this medication. After use, mild irritation may temporarily occur, but there's no need to worry. However, inflammatory symptoms such as keratitis, conjunctivitis, or corneal ulcers may occasionally appear, so if these symptoms occur, stop using immediately and consult a doctor. Also, allergic reactions such as contact dermatitis may occur, so if any skin abnormalities arise, stop using and seek appropriate treatment. If symptoms do not improve after using this medication for 7 days or if they worsen, consider other treatment options. It is advisable to avoid long-term use due to potential side effects. During treatment, contact lens wear should be avoided. During pregnancy, particularly in the early to mid-stages, there are no significant issues, but caution is necessary during the late stages due to uncertain safety with long-term use. While breastfeeding, the active ingredient may be present in breast milk and could affect the newborn, so caution is required. Safety has not been sufficiently established for children, so it is recommended not to use in pediatric cases. This medication is for use only in the eyes, and care should be taken to prevent the tip of the tube from coming into direct contact with the eyes. Also, to prevent contamination, do not share this medication with others, and use it all within 1 month after opening. When storing, keep it out of reach of children in a cool, dry place, avoiding direct sunlight. Do not transfer the medication to another container; it should be stored in the original container to prevent misuse and maintain drug quality.
