Efficacy & effects

Improvement of nutritional status through trace element supply.

View approved original text

When administering intravenous nutrition, trace elements such as zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, and chromium are supplied together to maintain a balanced nutritional status. These trace elements assist various physiological functions within the body, support normal metabolic activities, and play a crucial role in enhancing immunity and tissue recovery. Therefore, they are used to improve the overall health condition of patients by appropriately including trace elements when supplying nutrition via the veins.

How it is given

Adult administration

Use according to the physician's prescription, adjusting dosage based on plasma trace element levels. For patients receiving stable non-oral nutritional fluid, zinc is administered at 2.5-4mg per day, copper at 0.5-1.5mg per day, manganese at 0.15-0.8mg per day, chromium at 10-15μg per day, selenium at 20-40μg per day. Precautions

This medication should not be used in premature infants and neonates because the ingredient benzyl alcohol can cause severe respiratory problems in premature infants. Direct intravenous injection of this medication without dilution may cause phlebitis, so it must be diluted before use. Additionally, this medication is a hypotonic solution and should only be used for mixed injection. If any component of the drug shows toxic symptoms during administration, the administration must be stopped immediately. Special caution is required for patients with impaired kidney function or premature infants due to the risk of toxicity from aluminum content. Before administration, the physician must accurately assess the patient's condition and the required metabolic load, and frequently check the blood concentrations of trace elements to adjust the dosage. Patients with reduced kidney or liver function are at risk of accumulation of trace elements such as zinc, copper, manganese, chromium, and selenium, requiring careful monitoring. Safety has not been established for pregnant women; therefore, it should only be used cautiously when the benefits of treatment are deemed greater than the risks. In cases of overdose, toxic symptoms for zinc, copper, chromium, and selenium may present, including symptoms such as sweating, decreased consciousness, blurred vision, hypotension, vomiting, and diarrhea. In such cases, immediate consultation with medical staff is necessary for appropriate treatment. This medication must be used strictly according to the physician's prescription, and it is essential to check for discoloration or the presence of foreign substances in the solution before administration. When storing, it should be kept in a dry place at room temperature and out of reach of children. Additionally, transferring to another container can lead to quality degradation or accidents, so this must be avoided.
