This medication effectively lowers blood pressure and improves hypertension in patients with essential hypertension who do not have adequate blood pressure control with monotherapy of amlodipine or telmisartan.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose of this medication is one tablet once daily, to be taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). For patients with mild to moderate renal impairment, no dose adjustment is necessary; however, in patients with severe renal impairment, treatment should begin with a lower dose and be gradually increased. The daily dose of telmisartan for patients with liver impairment should not exceed 40 mg.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy have not been established for pediatric patients under 18 years of age, so the use of this medication is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication should not be used during pregnancy, especially during the second and third trimesters, as it may cause severe risks to the fetus and newborn. Do not take if you are allergic to any ingredients in this medication, pregnant or breastfeeding, or have severe liver or heart problems. Caution is required when using this medication in patients with impaired liver function, gastrointestinal disorders, renal impairment, and elderly patients. During the course of this medication, side effects such as dizziness or peripheral edema can commonly occur, and rarely, serious side effects may arise, so consult a doctor immediately if unusual symptoms appear. Hypotensive symptoms may manifest if blood pressure drops too low, so if symptoms occur, lie down and rest immediately, and seek treatment at a hospital if necessary. This medication can raise potassium levels, so when taken with potassium-rich drugs or supplements, regular monitoring of serum potassium levels is necessary. Drug interactions may occur when taken with other medications, so inform your doctor or pharmacist of any current medications you are taking. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant are recommended to switch to another antihypertensive with proven safety instead of this medication, and should discontinue use immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Breastfeeding women should avoid taking this medication and should consult their doctor, especially if they are nursing. The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been sufficiently established in children and adolescents, so its use is not recommended. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to medications, so caution is required when taking this medication, and dose adjustment may be necessary.
