This medication is used to effectively control the blood pressure of patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy of telmisartan or amlodipine.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose for adults is one tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). Patients with renal impairment: For mild to moderate renal impairment, no dosage adjustment is needed, but severe renal impairment patients should start at a low dose and gradually increase. Patients with liver impairment: The daily dose of telmisartan for mild or moderate liver impairment should not exceed 40 mg.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy for pediatric patients under 18 years have not been established, so its use is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can pose serious risks to the fetus during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters, so it should not be taken by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. People with allergies to this drug's main ingredients or similar components, those with biliary obstruction diseases, severe liver impairment, heart problems, etc., should not take this medication. Patients with decreased kidney function or diabetes, as well as nursing mothers, are also advised not to use this medication. Careful use is required for patients with certain heart valve diseases, liver impairment, gastrointestinal diseases, renal artery hypertension, and in the elderly, and caution is needed when used in combination with other blood pressure medications. The most common side effects of this medication include dizziness and swelling in the hands and feet; rarely, fainting or cardiac issues may occur. This medication should not be used during pregnancy, and if pregnancy is confirmed, treatment should be discontinued immediately and switched to a safe alternative. Caution is required when there is a lack of fluids or salt, as low blood pressure may occur; if blood pressure drops too low, appropriate treatment should be sought. Since there is a risk of increased potassium levels in the blood, caution is advised when taking potassium supplements or medications high in potassium. Patients with impaired kidney function should have regular blood tests to monitor kidney function and electrolyte levels. Patients with heart disease or heart failure may see their symptoms worsen while taking this medication. This medication contains sorbitol and is not suitable for patients with fructose intolerance. Diabetics may have an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases while taking this medication, so regular cardiac examinations and evaluations are recommended. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur during treatment, so caution is advised when driving or operating machinery. This medication may interact with other drugs, so especially when taken with digoxin, lithium, warfarin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, etc., consultation with a physician or pharmacist is necessary. In the case of overdose, symptoms like low blood pressure, dizziness, or cardiac arrhythmias may appear, and it is important to seek immediate medical attention for appropriate treatment.
