This medication helps manage blood pressure more effectively when patients with essential hypertension do not achieve sufficient blood pressure control with amlodipine or telmisartan monotherapy. It stabilizes blood pressure and contributes to the prevention of hypertension-related complications.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose of this medication is 1 tablet once a day, to be taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). For patients with severe renal impairment, treatment should start with a lower dose and gradually increase. For patients with hepatic impairment, the daily dose of telmisartan should not exceed 40 milligrams. Elderly patients should start treatment at a lower dose.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy have not been established for pediatric patients under 18 years old, therefore, administration of this medication is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, as it may cause serious harm to the fetus. Women who might become pregnant should also refrain from taking this medication, and if pregnancy is confirmed, they must stop taking it immediately. Those allergic to any of the components in this medication or to similar drugs should not take it. Patients with severely impaired liver or heart function, those with severe hypotension, or those in shock may be at risk if they take this medication. Diabetic patients with decreased kidney function or severe kidney impairment should not take this medication along with certain other medications. Primary aldosteronism patients or those with certain heart valve diseases should use this medication with caution. Patients with liver dysfunction need to be careful, as the components of this medication may not be well excreted from the body. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases should be cautious, as there is a risk of gastrointestinal bleeding. Patients with narrowed renal blood vessels may experience worsening kidney function after taking this medication, so caution is advised. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to the medication, so dosage adjustments and monitoring are necessary. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur during the medication, so caution should be taken when driving or operating dangerous machinery. If blood pressure drops too low, immediate medical assistance should be sought, and patients exhibiting hypotension should be laid down and may require fluid therapy. This medication may increase serum potassium levels, so caution is needed when taken with potassium supplements or foods high in potassium. Kidney function and serum electrolyte levels should be regularly checked, and any abnormalities should be promptly discussed with a doctor. As this medication may interact with other drugs, patients currently taking any other medications must inform their doctor or pharmacist. Caution is especially needed when taken with certain cardiac drugs, diuretics, lithium, warfarin, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Overdose can lead to severe hypotension, heart problems, etc., so the prescribed dosage must be strictly followed, and if any abnormal symptoms appear, immediate medical attention is necessary. This medication is not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 years of age, as safety and effectiveness have not been fully established.
