This medicine is used to effectively lower blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy of amlodipine or telmisartan.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage for adults is 1 tablet once daily, to be taken with water regardless of meals. It is advisable to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). For patients with renal impairment, no dosage adjustment is needed for mild to moderate renal impairment, but patients with severe renal impairment should start treatment at a lower dose and titrate slowly. For patients with liver impairment, the daily dose of telmisartan should not exceed 40 mg.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in pediatric patients under 18 years of age, so its administration is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, as it may cause serious harm to the fetus. If pregnancy is confirmed, this medication should be discontinued as soon as possible. This medication is prohibited or requires caution in patients with certain diseases or conditions. For example, individuals with an allergy to any component of this medication, obstructive biliary disease, severe liver impairment, severe hypotension, cardiogenic shock, or unstable heart failure after acute myocardial infarction should not take this medication. Furthermore, women who may become pregnant and nursing mothers should not use this medication. Patients with primary aldosteronism, heart valve problems, liver disease, gastrointestinal diseases, renovascular hypertension, dialysis patients, and the elderly should use this medication cautiously. Since this medication lowers blood pressure, side effects such as dizziness and peripheral edema may commonly occur. In severe cases, syncope or cardiac adverse reactions might rarely occur, so caution is needed. It is important to regularly check blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels while taking this medication. In particular, due to the risk of hyperkalemia, potassium levels should be carefully monitored. This medication may interact with other drugs, so patients must consult with their doctor or pharmacist about any medications they are taking. Special caution is necessary when used concurrently with digoxin, lithium, warfarin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, etc. Additionally, it is advisable to avoid taking this medication with grapefruit juice as it may increase the effect of the drug. This medication is not recommended for children, and elderly patients require dosage adjustment and caution. In case of overdose, hypotension and cardiac issues may occur, so medical assistance should be sought immediately. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and should be taken immediately after opening the packaging.
