  • Essential hypertension
View approved original text

This medication can be used to effectively manage blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy with telmisartan or amlodipine. This helps reduce cardiovascular risks associated with hypertension and improves the patient's health status.

Precautions

This medication can pose a serious risk to the fetus, especially during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it should not be used by pregnant women or women who may become pregnant. This medication should not be administered to patients with certain conditions, such as severe liver impairment, heart valve disease, severe hypotension, heart failure, or unstable conditions after acute myocardial infarction. When administering this medication, special care should be taken for certain patient groups, including those with primary aldosteronism, liver impairment, gastrointestinal disorders, renovascular hypertension, renal failure, and the elderly. This medication may cause various side effects, including dizziness, peripheral edema, and hypotension; if any unusual symptoms occur, immediate consultation with a healthcare professional is necessary. Symptoms of hypotension may appear if blood pressure drops too low; therefore, patients with insufficient fluids or salts should manage their condition before administration and seek appropriate measures if hypotension occurs. Potassium levels in the blood may increase, so patients at risk for hyperkalemia should have their potassium levels checked regularly through blood tests. As this medication may affect kidney function, patients with impaired renal function need periodic renal function testing. This medication may interact when used in combination with other antihypertensive agents, so patients should inform their healthcare provider if they are taking other medications. It is advisable not to administer this medication to breastfeeding women, and caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery due to possible dizziness or drowsiness. In case of overdose, severe hypotension, dizziness, and abnormal heart rate may occur, so it is crucial to adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage and contact a healthcare professional immediately if unusual symptoms arise. The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been sufficiently established for children, so its use is not recommended.
