View approved original text

This medication helps patients with dry eyes due to suppressed tear production. It particularly improves ocular inflammation caused by dry keratoconjunctivitis, increasing tear production and alleviating symptoms. By promoting the secretion of tears, it reduces dryness and irritation in the eyes, helping to maintain eye health.

Precautions

This medication has not been sufficiently studied in patients with a history of herpes keratitis, so caution is advised when using it. The effect of increased tear production has not been observed in patients using topical anti-inflammatory drugs or tear plugs. This medication should not be used in patients with active eye infections or those who are allergic to or suspect being allergic to any of its components. The most commonly reported side effect when using this medication is a stinging sensation in the eyes, along with conjunctival hyperemia, discharge, eye pain, foreign body sensation, itching, and visual disturbances. Rarely, ocular swelling, severe allergic reactions, or damage to the ocular surface may occur, so if any unusual symptoms appear, immediate consultation with medical personnel is necessary. This medication contains phosphates, which may lead to calcification of the cornea in patients with severe corneal damage. For ophthalmic use only; care should be taken not to let the container touch the eye directly during administration. Temporary blurriness may occur after instillation, so it is advisable to avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until vision returns to normal. Caution should be exercised in pregnant or breastfeeding women, as safety in pregnant women has not been adequately established. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children under 16 years of age have not been established, so its use is not recommended. After opening, this medication should only be used once, and any remaining solution should be discarded while ensuring the tip of the container does not touch the eye or any surfaces to prevent contamination. This medication should not be used while wearing contact lenses; lenses should be removed before instillation and can be reinserted 15 minutes after administration.
