Prevention and treatment of vitamin D deficiency
This medication is used to prevent and treat vitamin D deficiency in the elderly, adolescents, and adults.
Adults receive 200,000 IU of cholecalciferol via intramuscular injection. Elderly patients receive 100,000 IU of cholecalciferol via intramuscular injection. The annual dosage should not exceed 600,000 IU of cholecalciferol.
Adolescents receive 200,000 IU of cholecalciferol via intramuscular injection.
This medication contains vitamin D, so excessive intake should be avoided. Particularly when taken with foods fortified with vitamin D or other vitamin D preparations, the total intake should be considered. Regularly monitor calcium levels in blood and urine to ensure they do not exceed normal ranges. If calcium levels become too high, discontinue use of this medication. This medication should not be administered to certain patients, including those allergic to its ingredients or those with hypercalcemia, kidney stones, or renal dysfunction. It is also safer for pregnant or breastfeeding women to avoid this medication. While taking this medication, various side effects such as headache, fatigue, loss of appetite, vomiting, constipation, dehydration, high blood pressure, and kidney issues may occur, hence consult a doctor immediately if any abnormal symptoms appear. Regularly check vitamin D levels in the blood to maintain an appropriate dosage. Patients with impaired renal function or the elderly should have their kidney function tested regularly and dosage adjustments may be necessary. As this medication can interact with other drugs, consult a specialist when taking alongside anticonvulsants, diuretics, antacids, or warfarin. In case of overdose, promptly discontinue use, reduce calcium intake, and increase hydration. Do not mix this medication with other medications, and use it quickly after opening, discarding any remaining medication.

Headache, weakness, fatigue, muscle pain, loss of appetite, weight loss, growth retardation, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, polydipsia, polyuria, dehydration, high blood pressure, calcium stones, calcification of kidney and vascular tissues, excessive bone calcification, arrhythmia, psychological symptoms, sensory disturbances, joint pain, myasthenia, drowsiness, azotemia, hypersensitivity reactions, thirst, confusion, bloating, abdominal pain, metallic taste, dry mouth, rash, itching, injection site granuloma, injection site reactions
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication is sensitive to light, so it should be stored in a tightly closed container that blocks light. The storage temperature should be maintained between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius to preserve the effectiveness and safety of the medication.
A clear solution that is light yellow in color, contained in brown glass ampoules.
