Improvement of atherosclerotic symptoms and reduction of thromboembolic risk in patients with acute coronary syndrome and atrial fibrillation.
This medication is prescribed for patients with acute coronary syndrome, including unstable angina or non-Q-wave myocardial infarction. It is also used for patients who have undergone or are scheduled to undergo drug therapy, coronary intervention procedures, or coronary artery bypass surgery. This treatment helps improve atherosclerotic symptoms such as death, myocardial infarction, and stroke due to cardiovascular abnormalities. Additionally, this drug is administered to patients with atrial fibrillation who have one or more vascular risk factors and a low risk of bleeding, where vitamin K antagonists are not appropriate, to reduce the risk of stroke and thromboembolism. Therefore, this medication is effectively used to reduce various risks associated with cardiovascular diseases.
Administer 1 capsule once daily.
This drug prevents blood from clotting to prevent thrombus formation. However, if you take this medication, bleeding may take longer to stop, so you should notify your doctor immediately if bleeding is severe or persists for a long time. You must inform your healthcare provider about taking this medication before undergoing any surgery or starting a new medication. Genetic variations that affect the function of a specific enzyme (CYP2C19) may reduce the efficacy of this drug and increase the risk of cardiovascular problems, so caution is required. Moreover, interactions with certain medications may alter the drug's blood concentration and increase the risk of bleeding, so it is best to avoid concomitant administration. Individuals who frequently consume alcohol have a higher risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, so it is essential to consult with a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. This drug should not be used in patients with a history of gastrointestinal bleeding, hemophilia, severe liver or kidney dysfunction, women in late pregnancy or during breastfeeding, and patients with lactose intolerance. Caution should be exercised when using this medication for patients with a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or bleeding tendencies due to bleeding risks. Patients scheduled for surgery should stop taking this medication 5-7 days prior to the procedure and resume once hemostasis is confirmed. This drug may cause various side effects such as thrombocytopenia, allergic reactions, skin rashes, gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, dizziness, etc., so any abnormal symptoms should be discussed with a healthcare provider immediately. Notably, if bleeding symptoms or severe allergic reactions or blood abnormality symptoms arise, immediate treatment is required. This drug should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the third trimester; in the first and second trimesters, it should be used cautiously according to a doctor's judgment. Breastfeeding women are advised against taking this medication. The safety and efficacy of this drug have not been established for children or adolescents under 18 years of age. This drug does not affect the ability to drive or operate machinery; however, caution is necessary due to bleeding risks.
