How it is given

Adult administration

As sodium hyaluronate, administer 25 mg once a week for 5 consecutive weeks into the knee joint or shoulder joint (shoulder joint cavity, subacromial bursa, or bicipital tendon sheath). Adjust the frequency of administration as appropriate according to the symptoms. Administration must be carried out under strict aseptic conditions as it is injected into the knee joint.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by individuals who have experienced allergic reactions to this drug or its components. As this medication is injected directly into the joint, it should be avoided if there are skin conditions or infections at the injection site. Caution is required when using this medication for individuals with liver dysfunction or a past history of liver disease. Individuals with allergies to avian proteins should also avoid using this medication. Allergic reactions or shock may occur with this medication, so patients should be closely monitored after use; if any abnormal symptoms arise, administration should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be administered. Temporary pain, swelling, redness, warmth, skin rashes, or itching may occur at the injection site, and patients should report such symptoms. Systemic symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, fever, and headache may occasionally appear, so caution is advised. If there is significant inflammation in the joint, this medication may exacerbate the inflammation; therefore, it is recommended to use it after the inflammation has subsided. After injection, it is important to stabilize the joint and avoid strenuous activities. If the medication leaks outside the joint, pain may occur, so it is essential to inject accurately within the joint. Patients with rheumatoid arthritis or gouty arthritis should be cautious as temporary inflammation may increase. For 48 hours after injection, avoid vigorous exercises such as jogging or tennis, or activities that put prolonged weight on the joint. Due to uncertainty regarding safety and efficacy, it is not recommended to use this medication in combination with other intra-articular injectables. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication cautiously when absolutely necessary, as its safety is not established. Also, this medication may be transmitted through breast milk, so breastfeeding should be avoided during treatment. Its safety for children is not sufficiently confirmed, so it should only be used cautiously when absolutely necessary. Elderly individuals may have diminished physical function, so extra caution is required when using this medication. This medication must be injected in a sterile environment, and if symptoms do not improve, it is recommended to administer it only up to 5 times. When there is fluid accumulation in the joint, it is advisable to drain it before injection. Intravascular injection is strictly prohibited, and it is not used for ocular treatments. During injection, appropriate needles should be used, and care such as slowly aspirating the solution into the syringe is necessary. When opening the drug ampoule, it should be cleaned to prevent foreign substances from entering before cutting. Caution is required as mixing with specific disinfectants may cause precipitation. This medication is for single use; any remaining solution should be discarded immediately after opening.
