Treatment of gastrointestinal diseases such as gastric ulcer, gastritis, and prevention of Mendelson syndrome.
This medication is used to treat gastrointestinal-related conditions such as gastric ulcers, gastritis, duodenal ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. It can also be administered prior to anesthesia to prevent Mendelson syndrome, and it aids in the treatment of ulcers that may occur post-surgery. It is effective in managing gastric and duodenal ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is used to alleviate the symptoms of various gastrointestinal diseases and improve lesions.
Usually taken orally as 1 tablet twice a day, morning and evening, regardless of meals. 1) Gastric and duodenal ulcers: administer 1 tablet twice a day or 2 tablets once a day at bedtime. 2) Gastroesophageal reflux disease: administer 1 tablet twice a day for 8 weeks, or 2 tablets once a day at bedtime. In severe cases of gastroesophageal reflux disease, the dose may be increased to 2 tablets four times a day. 3
This drug should not be used in patients receiving dialysis or those with kidney function problems. It should also be avoided in patients with a history of allergic reactions to this drug or its components. Patients with a history of acute porphyrias should be cautious as this drug may worsen symptoms. It is recommended not to administer the drug to patients who have undergone upper gastrointestinal tract surgery, pregnant women, or those with a possibility of pregnancy, as well as to premature infants or newborns. Patients on a diet that restricts potassium intake should also avoid using this drug. Patients with liver dysfunction or a history of drug allergies, the elderly, or those with a history of kidney dysfunction should use this drug carefully. Caution is especially needed for those taking NSAIDs simultaneously, and regular health checks are necessary. This drug may hide the symptoms of stomach cancer; therefore, patients with gastric ulcers or newly arisen dyspeptic symptoms over middle age should confirm malignancy before use. Patients with Helicobacter pylori infection with gastric or duodenal ulcers should also undergo bacterial eradication treatment. Caution is needed for severely ill patients in intensive care units, patients with hypophosphatemia, or patients who have difficulty swallowing. Rarely, serious allergic reactions or skin rashes, blood abnormalities, liver dysfunction, cardiac arrhythmias, gastrointestinal symptoms, and neurological abnormalities may occur during the administration of this drug, so consult a doctor immediately if abnormal symptoms arise. It is advised not to use this drug for long periods and to check for treatment effects; substitute with another medication if necessary. Elderly patients or those with chronic pulmonary diseases or diabetes may have an increased risk of pneumonia, so caution is warranted. Avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery if dizziness or drowsiness occurs. This drug may interact with other medications, so it is important to inform your doctor or pharmacist about any other drugs being taken. It is safer not to use this drug for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Safety and efficacy have not been established in children, so its use is not recommended. In case of overdose, appropriate treatment such as vomiting or gastric lavage is needed and may be removed by dialysis. This drug may reduce gastric acid secretion, promoting bacterial growth in the stomach; therefore, ophthalmic examinations may be necessary for long-term use.
