Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (including erosive esophagitis), treatment and prevention of recurrence of Helicobacter pylori-associated peptic ulcers, relief of gastrointestinal symptoms related to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, treatment and prevention of gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers, treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, maintenance therapy effective in preventing rebleeding from gastric ulcers.
This medicine is used for the treatment and prevention of recurrence of gastroesophageal reflux disease, including erosive esophagitis, and for the treatment and prevention of duodenal and peptic ulcers related to Helicobacter pylori infection. It is also effective for the treatment and prevention of upper gastrointestinal symptoms resulting from non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug use, gastric ulcers, and duodenal ulcers. It is utilized for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and maintenance therapy to prevent rebleeding of gastric ulcers, thus used for improving various gastrointestinal disease symptoms and complications.
This medicine should be swallowed with water or a liquid and should not be chewed or crushed. 1) Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive esophagitis: 40 mg once a day for 4 weeks - Maintenance therapy for recurrence prevention: 20 mg once a day - Symptomatic treatment: 20 mg once a day, may be given as needed 2) Combination therapy for eradication of Helicobacter pylori: 20 mg twice a day for 7 days
Adolescents over 12 years old - Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive esophagitis: 40 mg once a day for 4 weeks - Symptomatic treatment: 20 mg once a day
This medicine should not be used in patients who have allergic reactions or hypersensitivity to specific ingredients. Care should be taken especially for those allergic to benzimidazole derivatives, penicillin antibiotics, and macrolide antibiotics. In addition, patients taking certain heart-related medications or antiviral agents, nursing mothers, and those with a history of myocardial infarction should avoid administration. This medicine contains the dye Yellow No. 5, so those allergic to this ingredient should use it cautiously. Various adverse reactions may occur during treatment, so if headaches, abdominal pain, skin rash, muscle pain, blood abnormalities, etc., arise, immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is necessary. Regular checks for side effects are important for long-term users. As this medicine suppresses gastric acid secretion, there may be a slight increase in the risk of bacterial infections in the stomach, so if diarrhea persists, inform healthcare professionals. Moreover, long-term use may increase the risk of fractures, so patients at risk of osteoporosis should be cautious. This medicine may interact with other drugs, so especially those taking blood thinners, antibiotics, antiviral agents, or antiepileptics should inform healthcare professionals. Its safety during pregnancy has not been completely established, hence it should be used cautiously during this period; it is better not to take it while breastfeeding. There is no specific antidote for overdose, and treatment should be provided according to symptoms, and it should be kept out of reach of children.
