This medication is used for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults: Take 1 tablet of this medication orally once a week. Food may interfere with the absorption of this medication, so it should be taken at least 30 minutes before breakfast or at least 2 hours before or after taking any food or drink at any time of the day. Take the drug with a sufficient amount of pure water (170~230 mL) in an upright position, and do not chew or suck on the tablet. Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking it.

Precautions

This medication may irritate the stomach and esophagus, leading to problems such as esophagitis or esophageal ulcers. It should be taken with a sufficient amount of water and must not be taken lying down for 30 minutes afterward. If symptoms such as pain in the esophagus or difficulty swallowing occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Patients with esophageal strictures or severe kidney impairment, as well as those allergic to the components of this medication, should not take it. The effectiveness of this medication may decrease if there is a lack of calcium and vitamin D, so it is advisable to take supplements if necessary. Caution should be exercised in the case of dental surgery or oral infections as there is a risk of osteonecrosis of the jaw, and oral health status should be discussed with a doctor. There may be interactions with other medications or foods while taking this drug, so inform the physician of any medications currently being taken. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult a doctor before using this medication. Safety in children has not been established, so use is not recommended. Overdose may present symptoms of hypocalcemia, and in case of symptoms, immediate consultation with healthcare personnel is necessary. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and it is advisable not to transfer it to another container.
