Precautions

This medicine may cause irritation to the stomach and esophagus, leading to issues such as esophagitis, esophageal ulcers, and esophageal erosion. It may sometimes worsen into esophageal obstruction or perforation, so if symptoms such as difficulty swallowing, pain behind the sternum, or heartburn occur during use, stop taking it immediately and consult a doctor. It is crucial to take this medication with a sufficient amount of water and not to lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking it, as understanding the proper method of ingestion is very important. Patients with mental disorders require special supervision while taking this medication. Patients with esophageal conditions, gastritis, duodenitis, or ulcers should exercise caution when using this drug. Furthermore, patients with esophageal strictures or achalasia, those who are hypersensitive to the ingredients of this drug, individuals with hypocalcemia, patients who cannot sit or stand for more than 30 minutes, or those with severe renal impairment should not take this drug. During treatment, various adverse reactions, including infections, back pain, muscle pain, indigestion, diarrhea, headaches, rashes, and itching, may occur. If symptoms are severe or persistent, consult a healthcare professional. This medication may interfere with absorption when taken with other drugs or foods containing divalent cations such as calcium, magnesium, and iron, so maintain an interval between doses. Additionally, supplementation with calcium and vitamin D may be necessary, particularly for patients undergoing long-term steroid treatment. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid taking this medication or consult a physician, and safety in pediatric patients has not been established. Elderly patients should also be monitored closely, but in general, safety and efficacy are similar to those in younger patients. In case of overdose, blood calcium and phosphate levels may decrease, so be aware of symptoms of hypocalcemia, and reduce absorption if necessary using milk or calcium-containing antacids. This medicine should be stored out of reach of children, and it is advisable not to transfer it to another container.
