This medication is used for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and for the treatment of osteoporosis in men.

How to take

Adult dose

Take 1 tablet of this medication orally once a week. Take it at least 30 minutes before breakfast, or at least 2 hours before or after any food or beverage intake during the day. Take it upright with a sufficient amount of plain water (170-230ml) and do not chew or suck on it. Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking it.

Precautions

This drug can irritate the mucous membranes of the stomach and esophagus, leading to issues such as esophagitis or ulcers. If you experience pain in your throat or chest, or difficulty swallowing after taking this medication, you should immediately stop taking it and consult your physician. Take this medication with sufficient water and do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking it. Particularly, individuals with gastrointestinal issues such as esophageal diseases, gastritis, or duodenitis should be cautious. Patients with esophageal motility disorders or severe renal impairment, as well as those with certain genetic disorders, should not take this medication. This medication may be less effective in conditions where calcium and vitamin D are deficient, so proper supplementation may be necessary. While taking this drug, it is advisable not to combine it with medications or foods containing calcium, magnesium, iron, etc. Use of this drug should be cautious in pregnant or breastfeeding individuals, and it is recommended to either discontinue the medication or breastfeeding while using this drug. Special caution is needed when used in children or the elderly, as safety and efficacy are often not established. In case of overdose, symptoms may arise due to decreased blood calcium levels, and immediate treatment should be sought. This drug may rarely cause side effects such as skin rash, muscle pain, joint pain, gastrointestinal symptoms, so if severe symptoms occur, consult a physician.
