Precautions

This medication may indicate that sleep disturbances are symptoms of physical or mental health conditions, so the patient's status must be thoroughly assessed before use. If insomnia does not improve after 7 to 10 days of use, other psychiatric or internal medicine conditions may be present, and consultation with a specialist is necessary. During the use of this medication, behaviors such as sleep-driving or actions in an altered state of consciousness may occur; thus, driving or operating dangerous machinery should be avoided. Taking this medication with alcohol or other central nervous system depressants increases these risks and should be avoided. Patients with depression should be particularly cautious as thoughts or behaviors related to suicide may worsen while taking this medication, and any new behavioral changes should be reported to healthcare professionals immediately. Before bedtime, necessary activities should be minimized, and after taking this medication, caution should be exercised as drowsiness or decreased concentration may occur during the day. Patients with allergies or hypersensitivity to this medication, or those with certain forms of glaucoma or severe urinary retention should not take this medication. During pregnancy or breastfeeding, careful use is advised considering the potential effects on the fetus or newborn, as safety has not been fully established. Elderly patients may experience stronger sedative effects, so starting with a lower dose and gradually adjusting is recommended. Patients with poor liver function may experience increased blood levels, requiring dose adjustment and careful monitoring. Severe side effects may occur with overdose, so the prescribed dosage must be strictly followed, and if an overdose is suspected, immediate medical attention should be sought. This medication may interact with other medications, so it is crucial to inform healthcare professionals of any other medications being taken.
