Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (erosive esophagitis, etc.), treatment and prevention of recurrence of Helicobacter pylori-positive peptic ulcers, and relief of upper gastrointestinal symptoms related to NSAIDs.
This medication is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease and erosive esophagitis, and is effective as long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients with esophagitis. It also helps relieve symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. Additionally, it is used in combination with antibiotics for the treatment and prevention of recurrence of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers due to Helicobacter pylori infection. It treats pain and discomfort related to upper gastrointestinal symptoms that may occur when using NSAIDs in the short term and is effective in treating gastric ulcers and preventing ulcers in patients receiving NSAIDs. It is also used for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and for the prevention of rebleeding from gastric or duodenal ulcers during maintenance therapy. This medication is widely used for the treatment and prevention of various gastrointestinal disorders.
1. Adults 1) Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive esophagitis: Administer 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. If not treated or symptoms persist, extend for an additional 4 weeks. - Maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence of esophagitis: Administer 20 mg once daily. - Treatment of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: Administer 20 mg once daily. If symptoms are not controlled after 4 weeks, further treatment is necessary.
2. Adolescents over 12 years of age 1) Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive esophagitis: Administer 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. If not treated or symptoms persist, extend for an additional 4 weeks.
This medication should not be administered to patients with known allergies or hypersensitivity to specific components or benzimidazoles. Also, caution should be exercised in cases of hypersensitivity to penicillin or macrolide antibiotics when using this medication concurrently, as allergic reactions may occur. Patients taking certain cardiovascular drugs or antiviral medications should avoid administration of this medication, and breastfeeding women should also refrain from using it for safety. During administration, various adverse reactions may rarely occur, affecting blood, immune, nervous systems, gastrointestinal tract, liver, skin, etc., therefore, immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is required if any symptoms arise. Regular monitoring is necessary during prolonged use due to the risk of hypomagnesemia, increased fracture risk, and gastrointestinal infection risk. This medication can interact with other drugs; therefore, it is essential to inform healthcare providers of any current medications. Its use during pregnancy requires careful consideration due to insufficient research on its effects on the fetus, and its use during breastfeeding is not recommended. In case of overdose, there are no specific antidotes, thus treatment is symptom-based, with general management required. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and should not be transferred to another container.
Urticaria, angioedema, anaphylactic reactions, shock, severe swelling, severe rashes with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, mucosal pain in mouth/eyes, mucocutaneous syndrome (Stevens-Johnson syndrome), toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell's syndrome), acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS syndrome), hepatic failure, jaundice, encephalopathy, interstitial nephritis, sudden and severe headache, seizures.

This medication may be sensitive to air or humidity, so it must be stored in a tightly sealed container. It is essential to maintain the storage temperature between 1°C and 30°C room temperature to preserve its efficacy.
