This drug is used to effectively lower blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension who have difficulty controlling blood pressure with monotherapy.

How to take

Adult dose

1 tablet of Valsartan 80 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg once daily, which can be taken with or without food and should be taken with a small amount of water. Valsartan 160 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg applies when prescribed for blood pressure lowering.

Precautions

This medication may cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients with allergies to this medication or its components, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, and patients with severe liver or kidney disease should not take this medication. Caution is advised in patients with electrolyte imbalance, liver or kidney dysfunction, certain autoimmune diseases, acute closed-angle glaucoma, cerebrovascular disease, elderly patients, and those with heart failure. Because this drug lowers blood pressure, caution is necessary when driving or operating machinery as dizziness or drowsiness may occur. Potassium supplements or potassium-rich foods should not be taken without consulting a doctor, and blood potassium levels and electrolyte status should be regularly monitored. Patients with poor kidney function should undergo kidney function tests before and after taking this medication, and should inform medical staff immediately if symptoms of worsening kidney function or low blood pressure occur. The hydrochlorothiazide component may increase sensitivity to sunlight and raise the risk of skin cancer, so sun exposure should be avoided, and any skin changes should be discussed with a doctor. This medication may interact with other drugs, so it is essential to inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medications you are taking, especially lithium, NSAIDs, potassium-sparing diuretics, and antihypertensives. In case of overdose, symptoms such as low blood pressure, dizziness, and muscle cramps may occur, and immediate medical attention should be sought. Keep this medication out of reach of children, store it in a dry place, and keep it in its original container.
