It plays an important role in patients over 55 years of age with coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, stroke, or high-risk diabetes. This medication is used not only for blood pressure management but also for improving cardiovascular health.

How to take

Adult dose

Telmisartan should be administered orally once daily at a dose of 40 mg with water, and can be taken regardless of meals. Depending on the patient, 20 mg once daily may be effective. If necessary, the dose may be increased to 80 mg once daily. It is recommended to take 80 mg orally with water once daily. In patients with liver dysfunction, the dose should not exceed 40 mg once daily.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy.
