This medication is used to alleviate painful muscle spasms associated with musculoskeletal disorders. It is also effective in relieving pain in muscles and joints, such as in conditions like shoulder-hand syndrome, periarthritis of the shoulder, and low back pain. It is used for spastic paralysis caused by neurological disorders and is helpful in improving muscle stiffness due to various neurological issues, such as cerebrovascular disorders, spastic myelopathy, and sequelae of spinal cord injuries. It aids in alleviating muscle stiffness symptoms that occur after surgery or trauma. This medication is also effective for the symptoms of stiffness associated with complex neuromuscular disorders like cerebral palsy. Overall, this medication is used to treat muscle stiffness and pain caused by musculoskeletal and neurological diseases.

How to take

Adult dose

Administer 50 mg of Eperisone Hydrochloride orally three times a day after meals. Adjust dosage appropriately according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. In particular, it should not be administered to individuals who are allergic to this drug or to patients with myasthenia gravis characterized by severe muscle weakness. Additionally, this medication contains lactose, hence it should not be used in patients with a genetic disorder that affects lactose digestion. Caution is also required for patients who may be at risk while using this medication. For instance, individuals with a history of drug allergies or those with liver function issues should be especially careful when using this medication, as it may worsen liver function. This drug can rarely cause serious side effects. It is also important to routinely check for elevations in liver enzymes or changes in kidney function. Allergic reactions, such as anemia, skin rashes, and itching, may occur as well. Furthermore, neurological symptoms like insomnia, drowsiness, headaches, and tingling in hands and feet, as well as gastrointestinal symptoms like indigestion, vomiting, constipation, and diarrhea, have also been reported. Urinary issues or symptoms of general weakness and dizziness may also manifest, requiring caution. Particularly, this medication may induce Stevens-Johnson syndrome, a serious skin disorder; hence if skin rash, blisters, itching, eye congestion, or mouth inflammation occur, use should be immediately discontinued, and a hospital visit should be made. While taking this medication, drowsiness, lethargy, and dizziness may occur, so it is advisable to avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. Moreover, caution should be exercised when using this medication in combination with similar drugs, as it may lead to issues with neuromodulation. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully consider the benefits and risks of this medication, and breastfeeding mothers are advised to avoid use if possible, and if it is unavoidable, breastfeeding should be suspended.
