This medication is used for the treatment of myocardial ischemia due to hypertension and stable and variant angina. Additionally, it helps reduce the risk of hospitalization for angina in patients who have confirmed coronary heart disease through recent angiography, provided they have no heart failure or have a cardiac output of over 40%. Thus, this drug is effective in improving the management of cardiovascular diseases.

This drug should not be administered to patients with severely impaired liver function, severely narrowed aortic valves, or in a state of shock. Patients with very low blood pressure, those requiring dialysis, elderly patients, and women who are pregnant or could become pregnant should use this medication with caution. Due to its vasodilating action, side effects such as flushing, fatigue, swelling, palpitations, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, abdominal pain, and nausea may occur. Rarely, side effects such as low blood pressure, vasculitis, neurological symptoms, erectile dysfunction, dyspepsia, liver dysfunction, and skin rashes have been reported, so any unusual symptoms should be discussed with a medical professional immediately. Patients with heart failure or liver dysfunction need to exercise extra caution when using this medication, as the blood pressure lowering effect may persist even after discontinuation, requiring careful monitoring when combined with other antihypertensive drugs. It is known that this drug does not significantly affect the ability to drive or operate machinery, but caution should be taken in the case of dizziness or drowsiness. This medication may interact with many other drugs, so it is essential to inform your healthcare provider of any other medications being taken. Particularly, taking this drug with grapefruit juice may enhance the blood pressure lowering effect and should be avoided. Women who are pregnant should avoid using this medication unless in specific circumstances, and breastfeeding women are advised to discontinue nursing while taking this drug. Use in children is recommended only for those aged 6 years and older, as safety and efficacy in younger children have not been established.
