This medication is used to effectively lower blood pressure and improve hypertension in patients with essential hypertension who do not achieve sufficient blood pressure control with monotherapy using either amlodipine or valsartan.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage of this medication is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water, regardless of meals. It is advised to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning) if possible.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this medication in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, and its use is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients with allergies to this medication or similar drugs, pregnant or nursing women, patients with severe kidney or liver disease, and patients with certain heart diseases should not take this medication. Patients with sodium or fluid deficiency should correct their condition before taking this medication, and blood pressure and condition should be closely monitored during treatment. Patients with high potassium levels or taking medications that may increase potassium should have their potassium levels frequently checked. Patients with renal vascular issues or who have recently undergone kidney transplantation need to exercise caution when taking this medication, as it may worsen kidney function. If symptoms of angioedema such as swelling of the face, lips, or tongue occur while taking this medication, it should be stopped immediately and should not be reused. Patients with heart failure or those recovering from myocardial infarction require regular kidney function tests due to the risk of changes in kidney function and hypotension when using this medication. Patients with acute myocardial infarction or certain heart valve diseases should be cautious with this medication due to the potential for worsening angina or heart problems. This medication may increase the risk of hypotension, worsening kidney function, and hyperkalemia when taken with other RAAS medications, so concurrent use should be avoided or blood pressure and kidney function should be frequently monitored. Caution is advised when driving or operating machinery, as dizziness or fatigue may occur. Overdose may cause severe hypotension or heart problems, so any unusual symptoms should be reported to a healthcare professional immediately. Regular tests, including liver and kidney function tests, are recommended during treatment with this medication. Older adults can take a dosage similar to that of general adults, but should follow medical guidance based on their condition. This medication is not recommended for children as safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established.
