Improvement of blood pressure control in essential hypertension
In patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy of amlodipine or valsartan, this medication helps effectively lower and control blood pressure. This leads to stable management of blood pressure, reducing the risk of cardiovascular complications. Therefore, it is used for the treatment of essential hypertension.
The recommended dosage of this medication is one tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is advisable to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). Dose adjustments are recommended if blood pressure is not controlled with monotherapy of individual components (amlodipine or valsartan), as follows: - 5/80 mg: Administer to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy of 5 mg amlodipine or 80 mg valsartan. - 5/160 mg: Administer to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy of 5 mg amlodipine or 160 mg valsartan. - 10/160 mg: Administer to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy of 10 mg amlodipine or 160 mg valsartan, or 5/160 mg. For patients taking valsartan and amlodipine concurrently, switching to this medication (which has the same constituent component dosages) may be considered for convenience. Patients with renal impairment: No dose adjustments are needed for patients with mild to moderate renal impairment (creatinine clearance ≥ 10 mL/min), but this medication should not be administered to patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance < 10 mL/min) or dialysis patients. For moderate renal impairment patients, monitoring of potassium levels and creatinine is recommended. Patients with liver impairment: For patients with mild to moderate liver impairment, the daily maximum dose of valsartan should not exceed 80 mg. This medication should not be administered to patients with severe liver impairment, cholestatic liver cirrhosis, biliary obstruction, or cholestasis. Elderly patients aged 65 and over: Caution should be exercised when increasing the dosage. Pediatrics: Safety and efficacy for pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, so administration of this medication is not recommended.
