Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (including erosive esophagitis), treatment and prevention of recurrence of Helicobacter pylori positive peptic ulcers, alleviation of gastrointestinal symptoms associated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, treatment and prevention of gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers, treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and maintenance therapy for the prevention of gastric ulcer rebleeding.
This medication is effective for the treatment and prevention of gastroesophageal reflux disease and erosive esophagitis, as well as for the alleviation of symptoms caused by reflux disease. It is also helpful in treating and preventing recurrence of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. It is effective in alleviating symptoms such as pain, discomfort, and burning sensation that may occur with the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and supports the treatment and prevention of associated gastric and duodenal ulcers. Additionally, it is used for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and for the prevention and maintenance therapy for gastric or duodenal ulcer rebleeding. This medication helps improve and treat gastrointestinal diseases overall.
This medication should be swallowed with liquid such as water and should not be chewed or crushed. 1. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. - If esophagitis does not resolve or symptoms continue, an additional 4 weeks of treatment is necessary. - Maintenance therapy for prevention of recurrence in patients with esophagitis: 20 mg once daily. - Symptom treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis.
Adolescents aged 12 years and older - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. - If esophagitis persists or symptoms continue, additional treatment for 4 weeks. - Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis.
This medication should not be administered to certain patients. For example, patients with an allergy to this medication or its components, or those who have previously experienced hypersensitivity reactions to benzimidazole derivatives should not use it. Additionally, when used in combination with penicillin antibiotics or macrolide antibiotics for the treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection, patients allergic to those antibiotics should also avoid taking this medication. This medication may cause serious side effects when used in combination with certain heart-related medications, so it should not be administered to patients taking terfenadine, cisapride, pizotifen, or astemizole. Moreover, it is also advisable for patients taking certain antiviral drugs like atazanavir and nelfinavir, as well as nursing mothers, to avoid using this medication. Patients with a history of myocardial infarction or those taking rilpivirine containing products should also not be administered this medication. This medication may cause various adverse reactions, with the most common symptoms being headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, and vomiting. Rarely, serious side effects may occur, including blood-related problems, allergic reactions, hypomagnesemia, psychiatric symptoms, liver function abnormalities, skin rashes, myalgia, and nephritis, so if symptoms appear, you should consult a doctor immediately. Regular check-ups are necessary during long-term use, and care should be taken especially if used for more than one year as the risk of hypomagnesemia and fractures may increase. This medication suppresses gastric acid secretion which may promote bacterial growth in the stomach, slightly increasing the risk of infection. Additionally, interactions with other medications may occur during use, so if taken with warfarin, digoxin, methotrexate, clopidogrel, etc., monitoring serum concentration changes is essential. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been adequately established, so it should be used cautiously based on the doctor's judgment, and it is preferable to avoid use while breastfeeding. In case of overdose, since there are no specific antidotes, you should visit a hospital immediately for symptomatic treatment, and keep it out of reach of children.
Hives, angioedema, anaphylactic reactions, shock, hypomagnesemia, hypocalcemia, hypokalemia, confusion, hepatitis, jaundice, liver failure, encephalopathy, skin mucous membrane syndrome (Stevens-Johnson syndrome), toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell's syndrome), acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS syndrome), renal interstitial nephritis, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, sudden and severe.
Headache, dizziness, sensory disturbances, drowsiness, taste disorders, blurred vision, bronchospasm, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal distension, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, stomatitis, gastrointestinal candidiasis, dermatitis, itching, rash, hair loss, photosensitivity, fractures, arthralgia, myalgia, gynecomastia, weakness, increased sweating, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, allergic reactions, back pain, chest pain, sternum pain, facial swelling, facial flushing.

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to protect it from air and moisture. The recommended storage temperature is between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature. This will help maintain the medication's effectiveness longer.
