This medication is used to treat the symptoms of Alzheimer’s-type dementia. It improves memory impairment and cognitive function, assisting the patient's daily life, and is effective in slowing the progression of symptoms.

For 4-6 weeks, administer a dose of 5 mg and assess clinical response during this period, then it may be increased to 10 mg. When increasing to 10 mg daily, monitor for gastrointestinal adverse reactions closely. Underweight elderly women should administer only 5 mg daily.
