This medication is primarily used for patients with high cholesterol levels in the blood. It helps lower blood cholesterol levels when dietary and exercise controls are insufficient, particularly in cases of primary hypercholesterolemia or familial hypercholesterolemia. Additionally, it is used in conjunction with other treatments for patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. It may also serve as an adjunct to diet in pediatric patients aged 10 to 17 who meet certain criteria. This drug lowers total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol levels, slowing the progression of atherosclerosis and also showing a risk reduction effect for cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, it is effectively used in various types of hyperlipidemia and to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
