How to take

Adult dose

Adults: Administer 0.2 mg of tamsulosin hydrochloride orally once daily after a meal. Swallow this medication whole; do not crush or chew it. The dose may be increased or decreased as appropriate according to symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. Patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or its components, those with symptoms of orthostatic hypotension, those with severe liver impairment, women who are pregnant or might become pregnant, and patients with lactose intolerance or other hereditary metabolic disorders should not take this medication. Additionally, patients with severe renal impairment, elderly patients, and those taking certain antihypertensives, alpha-1 blockers, PDE5 inhibitors, or CYP3A4 inhibitors should use this medication with caution, as there may be risks of orthostatic hypotension or syncope in some patients. While taking this medication, side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, low blood pressure, palpitations, dyspepsia, and rashes may occur, so consult a healthcare professional immediately if any abnormal symptoms arise. In particular, if loss of consciousness or syncope occurs, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and appropriate treatment should be provided. In case of overdose, blood pressure may drop sharply, so it is essential to adhere to the prescribed dosage, and to be cautious of blood pressure variations when changing position. Furthermore, this medication is a symptomatic treatment, so if symptoms do not improve, consideration should be given to other treatment methods. When taking this medication, caution should be exercised when engaging in hazardous activities such as working at heights or driving, and individuals who have a history of allergy to sulfonamide drugs must inform their healthcare provider before taking it. There may be drug interactions, so caution is necessary when taking it with other antihypertensives, PDE5 inhibitors, and CYP3A4 inhibitors, especially it should not be taken concurrently with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors. This medication is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and for children under 18 years of age. Elderly patients should start at a low dose after confirming renal function impairment and gradually increase the dosage, and if there is no effect, other treatment methods should be considered without further increasing the dosage. When taking medication, it should be taken directly out of the package and should not be chewed or opened, especially since it is a sustained-release formulation and chewing may alter its effectiveness. Finally, this medication should be kept out of reach of children, and transferring it to another container should be avoided.
